Set against the backdrop of the sunlit Loire-Valley, the kings` valley, the house of Gratien & Meyer rises majestically over the Loire. In this "Temple of Saumur", modern technology is only employed in areas where it serves good old traditions.
The Chenin grape is the most important variety used in the production of our sparkling Saumur wines. Together with Cabernet Franc, it produces fine wines of character and elegance which are matured for many months in the underground passages dug out of the tuffeau limestone bedrock.
Since 1864, Gratien & Meyer has had a firm eye on the future and has set about opening up overseas markets. Our exports have continued to grow in recent years. Our sales representatives will be delighted to assist you. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with them.
With 20 hectares of vineyards, most of them devoted to non-sparkling wines, "Château Gratien", home of Gratien & Meyer, is the only Saumur company to be both a wine dealer and a wine-grower.
