The faces
of the Maison
Since 1864, Gratien Meyer has above all been a story of passionate women and men. Every day, they bring the Maison’s expertise to life with the same uncompromising commitment and ambition: crafting Crémants that reveal the full finesse of the Saumur terroir.
Pierre Charon, Cellar Master, guardian of the Gratien Meyer style
"It is a privilege and an honour to carry on age-old expertise in a place as unique, beautiful and steeped in history as our tuffeau cellars."
Since 2022, Pierre Charon has overseen winemaking at Gratien Meyer. As an oenologist and technical director, he brings his expertise to a single goal: preserving the signature style of the Maison while continuing to let it evolve.
Trained in agronomy and oenology, his path took him from the vineyards of New Zealand, Australia, and Chile to the Loire Valley, where he chose to lay down lasting roots. These international experiences gave him a broader perspective on the world's great terroirs while strengthening a core belief: the greatest wines are those that honor their origins.
At Gratien Meyer, he orchestrates the blends, oversees extended aging in the tuffeau cellars, and ensures the full finesse of every cuvée shines through. His work carries forward the vision of the founders: creating a dialogue between terroir, time, and craftsmanship to bring forth Crémant AOP wines of exceptional elegance.
A collective expertise
Alongside the Cellar Master, a team of around 30 women and men dedicate their skills to the Maison every day.
From tending the vines to welcoming visitors, each plays an active role in bringing the Gratien Meyer style to life.
